Large companies have always had the resources to do this work properly. They have CSO functions and specialist counsel and dedicated ESG teams. The expertise exists. It has simply never been accessible to companies without the budget to commission it.

The result is a system that punishes good companies for being small. A furniture maker in Poland and a logistics operator in Portugal are doing exactly the work the world wants more of, making real things, employing real people, doing it carefully. But when the questionnaire arrives from their largest client, they're competing for credibility against companies twenty times their size who can simply hire a department to handle it.

The pressure is converging from every direction. Multinational supply chains. Banks. Development institutions. Regulators where they exist; private demand where regulators have walked away. Every stakeholder asks for something slightly different, in their own format, on their own timeline. There is no single framework to master.
